Terms of Service

1. What Startfund is

Startfund is a crowdfunding platform that connects creators (people launching a project) with backers (people who support it financially). Campaigns follow the all-or-nothing model.

2. All-or-nothing explained

Every campaign has a funding goal and a deadline. If the goal is reached by the deadline, the campaign is funded and the creator receives the raised amount (minus the 5% platform fee and payment processing fees). If the goal is not reached, the campaign fails and every backer is refunded in full.

3. Payments & refunds

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. When you back a campaign, your card is charged immediately and the funds are held by Stripe until the campaign ends:

• Campaign succeeds — funds (minus fees) are transferred to the creator's verified Stripe account.
• Campaign fails — your pledge is refunded automatically to your original payment method. Refunds usually appear within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.

4. Fees

Startfund charges a 5% platform fee that is deducted only when a campaign succeeds. Failed campaigns cost nothing. Stripe's payment processing fees apply to all charges.

5. Your obligations as a creator

• Provide accurate information about yourself and your project.
• Fulfill rewards you promise to backers, or communicate clearly if you cannot.
• Use funds only for the purposes described in your campaign.
• Comply with all applicable laws, including tax obligations.

6. Your obligations as a backer

You must be at least 18 years old or have parental consent. Backing a campaign is a commitment to support a creator — not a purchase. Creators may fail to deliver even with good intentions; refunds on failed campaigns are guaranteed by the all-or-nothing model, but successful campaigns are not warranties.

7. No self-funding

Creators may not pledge to their own campaigns. We reserve the right to cancel pledges that violate this rule.

8. Liability

Startfund provides the platform "as is". We are not a party to the agreement between creators and backers and are not liable for the delivery of rewards or the use of campaign funds.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
